a royal wedding dress indeed

so i got to be honest with you, i got so tired of hearing about william and kate's upcoming wedding. and no i didn't watch it. however, i really was looking forward to see what her wedding dress would look like. i was not disappointed. i l-o-v-e it! to me it is classic. however i love almost all things old fashioned, especially when it comes to fashion. who are we kidding they dressed so much better back when. the dress has been compared to one of my favorites; princess grace of monaco. oh grace kelly how i admire thee. anywho, i may have not watched the wedding, but i will watch my guilty pleasure the fashion police and see what joan rivers (perhaps the funniest lady on earth) thought of the fashion at the royal wedding. did i ever mention my love of hats? i don't think so. but i do. love hats. and in jolly old england you aren't considered fully made up until you top it off with a hat. so excited to see the creative hats everyone wore.

have you ever seen such a beautiful wedding veil? or a prettier bride for that matter. on a side note, talk about a classy lady. and so sweet. i just love her.
her name however did not influence our decision in any way. but is a happy coincidence.

this also got me reminiscing about my wedding dress. which i still love. i am very pleased with my decision. it was the second dress i tried on and that was it. it was the one. and yes this post did give me an excuse to rummage through my wedding pictures. such blissful, wistful memories. that was the most delightful autumn day.

Not in the Mood for a Frame so I made a Change

The supplies: Mod Podge, clipboards, scrapbook paper (only takes one per clip board unless you get more creative with it.), a foam or paint brush, and scissors.

It's so easy, you can do it with a Poundcake on your lap. Oh alright, it does make it hard when they want to grab everything you hold.
As you can see in the picture I applied the mod podge to the clipboard. Then I placed my scrapbook paper down and wrapped it around the sides with more mod podge and trimmed off the bottom with scissors. I did have to apply more pressure to get it to stick on the back, but you could just trim the paper around the whole clipboard, I just like this look better. Then I applied a thin layer of mod podge over the top of the paper as well.

Ta Da! Here they are in all there glory.
Poundcakes newest addition to her nursey.
Just a close up. I love the finished result.

My Mommy Misadventure

This week was full of many mommy adventures. The biggest poop to land since the great nickel poop of '01. Sorry if this freaks some of my peeps out, but poops is what babies do. Now the magical thing I've learned about being a mom is my sweet poundcake can do the big poops on me and I just laugh it off and shrug my shoulders. (Not the case when I had to clean up my bro's huge mess o' poop. I just thought the whole thing was Dee-sgusting.) Well thats how the week started out. Poop, a broken dishwasher, a fence jumping puppy, a razzing talk-a-lot baby and a hard working hubby were making up our week until that fateful night of my mommy misadventure.

At approximately 7pmish I was trimming my poundcakes finger nails. Something I have done many times before. However this time I got a tiny bit of skin off of her right index finger. Now there was NO crying, whaling or gnashing of teeth but there was suddenly a stream of blood. Being the with it mom I am I quickly wrapped a paper towel around it and called my after hours doctor clinic for any tips on getting the bleeding to stop. The nurse told me to apply pressure and to not keep checking it to see if it had stop bleeding as that would interrupt the clotting process. Now that is what bothered princess poundcake, not the cut but her mom holding her finger. My child likes to be free. After I undressed her to a diaper I went on a band aid search. I was so happy when I found a teeny, tiny baby sized band aid. I wrapped it tightly around her finger and laid her in her crib so I could rinse out the blood stained clothes in the sink. I was gone maybe two minutes and when I came back to pick up my happy child there was no band aid on her finger. I started searching the crib but it was no where. So then panic mode kicked in and I started searching every crack and crevice and floor around the crib and then i had the horrifying thought that my baby may have ate a band aid. I opened her mouth. And it was no where to be found. So I called the nurse and asked her if it was possible my baby could of ate a band aid and if so could she digest it. She said it was not common, but that she could have ate it and to watch her and if she starts to throw up to bring her in. Relieved that it was not the end of the world, I laid her down on her changing table and consoled her even though the consoling was more for my benefit then hers.

As I bent over to grab her pajamas, something caught my eye.
Her band aid.
Stuck to my shirt.
There the whole time.
Oh sigh.
I tuckered myself out over the missing band aid that I was wearing the whole time.
I'm exhausted just recounting it peeps.

Fertile Mertil?

April is infertility aweareness month. I have decided after great consideration to share my story. I have endometriosis which can make it hard to get pregnant. I also have a lot of the same health problems that my dear Grandma Holman has. We both developed arthritis at a young age, she also had endometriosis and we are both very prone to blood clots just to name a few. My grandma told me that her and my grandpa had tried for three years to get pregnant with my uncle Jeff and that her doctor was amazed that she was able to have three children. She wanted to have more, but the doctor told her that her body wouldn't be able to handle birthing another child. So with that she had to stop. Two years into our marriage we decided to stop using birth control to see what would happen since there were some known issues I have with getting pregnant in hopes that we would get pregnant someday. It only took three years, just like grandma! Now I loved having five years of hubby's and me time. It was a wonderful time that made us inseparable. And we were able to have many adventures together. The first year without baby didn't bother us, but well into the second year of trying it started to freak me out. I started to investigate farther and realized I don't ovulate every month. We talked about adopting in our thirties if we still had no luck. I was hesitant on trying fertility treatments and wanted to wait until I was at least 27 to go that route. As I think I am still pretty young. There was a lot of waiting and a lot of let downs. The hardest part was actually the constant question from others of when we were going to start a family. Stinkers. That is one question I am very careful to only ask close friends. Anywho, I will never forget that very special night we found out that I was pregnant with my baby. Words can't describe how amazing it felt to know that we were going to be parents. And I must say we lucked out with how wonderful our sweet baby is.

I know that there are others that have had a much harder time than we had getting pregnant, my hope is that our story may bring comfort to any of my peeps that may be going through something similiar and happen to read this. Children are such a blessing and anyone who is lucky enough to care for a child is beyond blessed. I hope and pray that we may all treat children with great love, respect, a sense of humor and understanding.

Becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love
