Milk Glass Moon

Milk Glass Moon (Big Stone Gap, Book 3) Milk Glass Moon by Adriana Trigiani

"LOVE. What a tiny word that is used to describe everything and can mean nothing. Love is the point of life itself, love is the great healer, love is the energy behind all things that are beautiful, whether it's a silver cup of berries or lovers on a bicycle built for two. Dreamers. They're all dreamers."

Bend, here's to one year!

So we have lived here for one whole year. We wanted to celebrate our first year here by going to the Sister's Rodeo. The second day after we moved here we went to the Sister's Rodeo and we thought it would be a fun way to commemorate our anniversary of leaving good old Utah for beautiful Central Oregon. So I thought this would be a good time to evaluate my loves, dislikes and things I miss.

I love:

*Jasper. If we wouldn't have moved here this cute fluff ball would never become apart of our lives. And now that he's apart of our family I can't imagine not having him. (At least one of us is refined.)

*How when you wake up in the morning you smell mountain air and cool air hits your face, even in the Summer. It reminds me of camping.

*Taking walks at Drake Park and going to the cute shops downtown.

*Going new places. I am partial to Tumalo Falls however. It's so pretty. Bryan recently went on a new trail at China Hat, so I think that will be my next venture.

*The Farmer's Market, art walks, concerts in the park, the Christmas tree lighting at Drake Park, Winterfest, Balloons over Bend, etc.

*The beautiful trees. Trees oh how I love thee.

I dislike:

*Not having very many street lights at night. It was very hard for me to get used to driving around at night with mainly just the light from my car. Apparently Oregon has many light ordinances.

*The first house we lived in when we moved here was not fun. Our landlords where not the coolest people I have ever met and come Fall we realized that the heat didn't work and we were freezing to death and had the highest electrical bills from plugging in heaters all day. We would all huddle in one room with the door closed and snuggle close to stay warm. We moved in to the house we are in now in the middle of last November and are grateful to be here.

*Everyone drives sooo slow! There is no road rage, I swear. It can be frustrating when you come from Orem where everyone is in a hurry to get from here to there. You get in that mode and it's still strange to me that no one hardly ever speeds. They probably don't want an expensive ticket.

I miss:

*All of my family and friends that I rarely see.

*Planted Earth.

*The smothered burritos at Los Three Amigos. They were too good. I want one right now!

*Living so close to Moab. The red rock is magical and will always live in me.

So there it is. We are really enjoying Bend and our first year here flew by! There is still so much we want to do that we haven't found time for yet. So it looks like we will be staying here in the pines for the time being.

Big Cherry Holler

Big Cherry Holler (Big Stone Gap, Book 2) Big Cherry Holler by Adriana Trigiani

It was really good and another quick read, but more serious then the first. I love her trips to Italy and whenever I read one of her books I decide I want to live in Italy. This book is funny and quirky like the first and still focuses on Ave finding self discovery. I'm looking forward to reading the third.
